Preserving the Legacy of Lebanon’s Jewish Community
We are a group of Lebanese young professionals born in the diaspora, yet our hearts remain tethered to the voices of our grandparents—voices that still echo in our minds, carrying stories of a Lebanon they cherished.
Their tales were filled with warmth, joy, and an unshakable bond to the land of cedars. They spoke of bustling markets, laughter-filled gatherings, and a time when diversity was Lebanon’s greatest strength. But woven into those stories were also memories of loss and devastation—of beloved neighborhoods destroyed and a once-vibrant community fading into the past.
Yet, despite the heartbreak, their love for Lebanon never wavered.
A Community at a Crossroads
Today, we find ourselves at a critical moment. The Lebanese Jewish community, once a proud and thriving part of the nation’s fabric, is now nearly invisible. As time passes, those of us in the diaspora risk blending into other cultures in Europe and America, watching our 5,000-year history slip through our fingers like whispers lost in the wind.
But we refuse to let that happen.
This initiative is a declaration of resilience—a promise to preserve our heritage, honor our history, and reclaim our place within Lebanon’s diverse tapestry.
Our Vision for the Future
We dream of a revitalized Jewish presence in Beirut, where our community can once again contribute to Lebanon’s cultural and social landscape. We imagine a future where the Jewish heritage of Lebanon stands side by side with all other sects, not as a relic of the past, but as a living, thriving testament to the country’s pluralistic spirit.
This is our mission, our passion, and our commitment—to honor the past and build a future where Lebanon’s Jewish heritage shines brightly once more.
“When I was growing up in West Beirut, we didn’t define ourselves by whether we were Jewish, Sunni, or Christian. We were simply Lebanese.”
